Community Domestic Violence Intervention Program for Lincoln County Nebraska

Stop the cycle of violence.
                       It begins with you.

About CDVIP

The Community Domestic Violence Intervention Program was established in 1996 by several community members who saw a need for more consistent and coordinated response to domestic violence. The project was spearheaded by then Lincoln County Attorney, Kent Turnbull. The non-profit agency was established to serve all of Lincoln County, Nebraska.

Together In 1996, these agencies wrote policies and procedures for how each agency would respond to a case of domestic violence. Although revised somewhat, these policies and procedures remain in place for these agencies today. The representatives from these agencies formed the first Lincoln County Coordinated Response to Domestic Violence Team that has met regularly since the inception of the team in 1996. The goals of the team are to: (1) Hold perpetrators of domestic violence accountable for their actions (2) Make victims of domestic violence safer and (3) Stop domestic violence.

As the Community Domestic Violence Intervention Program has evolved over the years, today its primary activities are:
  • Effecting a consistent and coordinated response to domestic violence in Lincoln County;
  • Acting as a monitoring agency to ensure that all member agencies are adhering to their written policies and procedures;
  • Coordinating a 52-week Batterer’s Intervention Program and the Women’s Intervention and Education Program for perpetrators of domestic violence;
  • Coordinating the One Door-One Stop Center;
